What is CBD (cannabidiol) Hemp Oil?

CBD hemp oil comes from the stalk and seed of cannabis (hemp) plants.  Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a natural botanical concentrate that is high in the compound CBD. Of the more than 85 cannabinoids identified in the cannabis plant, CBD is the second most common after tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychotropic and therefore doesn’t cause a euphoric high.

CBD hemp oil is extracted from the cannabis varieties that are naturally abundant in CBD, and low in THC. A specialized extraction process is used to yield highly concentrated CBD oil that also contains other nutritious material such as omega-3 fatty acids, terpenes, vitamins, chlorophyll, amino acids, and other phytocannabinoids like cannabichromene (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN) and cannabidivarian (CBCV).

Pure hemp cannabidiol oil can be consumed directly as a nutritional supplement. But there are dozens of different types of CBD hemp oil products, including capsules, drops, and even gummy bears. Concentrated CBD hemp oil can also be infused into skin and body care products and used topically.

Studies on CBD’s natural health benefits are extensive and groundbreaking research is being done regularly. We suggest you review the scientific research on CBD to get a better understanding of its health benefit.

What are some benefits of CBD oil?

Years of research shows that cannabinoids like CBD interact with the body's endocannabinoid system, a complex system that contributes to a variety of biological processes like inflamation, relazation, sleeping, and appetite.  By linking with the two main types of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, which are found on cells throughout the body, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, helping it in the regulation of the body's natural state of balance.

Because organic hemp oil is extracted from high-CBD, low-THC cannabis, it doesn’t produce psychoactive effects the way THC does, making it a safe and legal option for all age groups and demographics.

Some Common  Health benefits of CBD (cannabinoids) are:

Digestive Aid

A healthy appetite is vital to a healthy body, especially when the body is healing. Some illnesses decrease the appetite to the point of preventing the body from healing itself. According to the National Cancer Institute, CBD stimulates appetite. In the human body, CBDs bind to cannabinoid receptors in the body. Scientists believe these receptors play an important role in regulating feeding behavior. CBDs stimulate appetite when they dock onto these receptors.

CBD also eases nausea and vomiting. This is especially helpful for individuals enduring chemotherapy and other treatments for serious diseases.

Analgesic

CBDs bind to CB1 receptors in the body to relieve pain. CBD also has an anti-inflammatory effect that reduces swelling.

Anxiety Relief

CBD may alleviate severe social anxiety. Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder, or SAD, is one of the most common forms of anxiety disorders that impair quality of life. Some consumers complain of increased social anxiety after marijuana use but this may be due to low levels of CBD proportionate to the higher levels of THC.

In a 2011 study, scientists wanted to study the effects of CBD on people with SAD. The scientists selected 24 people with this condition who had never received treatment for SAD then divided participants into two groups. One group received 600 mg of CBD while the control group received a placebo. The scientists then asked study participants to take part in a simulated public speaking test while researchers measured blood pressure, heart rate and other measurements of physiological and psychological stress.

The CBD group showed significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in their speech performance. In comparison, those in the placebo group presented higher anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort.

Approximately 15 million adults in the United States have social phobia and about 6.8 million have a generalized anxiety disorder. Traditional treatment usually involves counseling and medications. Treatment with CBD may be better than anti-depressants because it acts quickly and does not cause side effects or withdrawal symptoms.

Cancer Spread

The National Cancer Institute details several studies into the anti-tumor effects of CBD. One study in mice and rats suggest CBDs “may have a protective effect against the development of certain types of tumors.” CBDs may do this by inducing tumor cell death, inhibiting cancer cell growth, and by controlling and inhibiting the spread of cancer cells.

One study conducted by the  Calofornia Pacific Medical Center suggests CBD “turns off” the gene involved in the spread of breast cancer. These scientists found CBD inhibits ID-1, an action that prevents cancer cells from traveling long distances to distant tissues.

Antipsychotic

CBD relieves psychotic symptoms associated with schizophrenia, according to research by University of Cologne in Germany. Schizophrenia affects about 1.1 percent of the population, or approximately 2.4 million adults in the United States.

CBD continues to surprise medical researchers with the variety of common health benefits it provides. An increasing number of scientists, physicians and consumers are learning about these health benefits and incorporating CBD into a healthy lifestyle plan.

Is CBD oil (cannibidiol) safe?

CBD safety in humans has been studied in multiple small studies, suggesting that it is well tolerated at doses of up to 1500 mg/day (p.o.) or 30 mg (i.v.).

Will CBD Oil get me high?

No.  A pure blend of CBD oil can never get you high.  Unlike Marijuana, hemp contains extremely low (less than .3%) THC.  THC is the compound in marijuana that makes a person feel "high."  CBD Oil of Colorado sells pure CBD with no THC. Therefore you will not feel "high using our product.

Are all CBD oils created the same?

The ways in which cannabidiol is extracted from industrial hemp plants, then manufactured, concentrated, formulated, etc., and delivered or administered to a customer or patient, can vary greatly.

With so many CBD products available, it’s tempting to want to purchase the most affordable CBD oil you can find, but cheaper isn’t always better.

If you want to make sure you’re getting a safe and effective product, look for quality, not for a low price. How is quality defined when it comes to CBD oil? The higher the concentration of cannabidiol in a product, the more powerful its effects, and thus the wiser the investment.  You can be assured that you will always get that kind of quality from CBD Oil of Colorado.  But you don't have to take our word for it,  because all of our CBD oils are  tested by a third party lab, and the results are always available to our customers.

Because we manufacturer our own products, we are able to offer you the best prices for these premium products.

What is the difference between CBD made from hemp vs. medical marijuana?

One of the misconceptions about CBD Hemp oil products is that CBD from hemp oil is less potent than cannabis oil or CBD oil made from medical marijuana. While it is true that the percentage of CBD in hemp plants by dry weight is lower than the percentage of CBD in some specially bred marijuana plants, once the oil is extracted from the plant, this difference becomes negligible.

However, hemp cultivars also grow much faster than marijuana, so while an intensively bred high-CBD medical marijuana strain would take a full season to grow, a hemp farmer can often plant multiple crops a season, creating a more environmentally sustainable and conscious product.

On a molecular level, CBD from hemp is the same as CBD from marijuana.  Neither hemp or marijuana is guaranteed to be healthier than the other.  This, mostly depends on outside factors, lab testing critical.

The fact is that hemp, like marijuana, contains measurable amounts of a number of terpenes and cannabinoids, including CBD and THC. However, the levels of THC in hemp oil are low enough not to be psychoactive, making hemp  more viable alternative for many who want to avoid the negative effects of psychoactive THC medical marijuana.  Hemp CBD oil also fills an important role for those who can’t access medical marijuana in their state.
